Housetalk Issue 171

Dear Resident,

The number of sales of dwellings including apartments in Waitakere City for January was 217. There were 10 sections sold. This is a big drop compared to January 2015 where there was 257 sales.

Not too surprising since Barfoot and Thompson reported the lowest number of listing in December for 20 years. The median price in January for Waitakere City fell to $685,000 from $717,500.

With a shortage of properties for sale and very strong demand (net 64,000 migration gain 12 months to December 2015) as well as strong organic growth (births – deaths plus domestic migration) in Auckland and low interest rates, price rises are almost inevitable during 2016.
